On 25 April, Arbor Day, 999 trees were planted on an open area near the Hochfirst. The site is located at an altitude of around 1,000 metres and had been affected by bark beetle infestation and storm damage in recent years.

Hotel Director Aldo Rosso and employees of the Maritim TitiseeHotel took part in the tree-planting campaign together with Mayor Meike Folkerts, schoolchildren from the region and other participants. The trees planted included larches and Douglas firs. Wild cherry trees were planted along the adjoining paths. A further cherry tree – the 1,000th tree purchased for the project – was planted directly at the hotel.

The purchase of the 1,000 trees was financed with funds from ProTomorrow. The town of Titisee-Neustadt and the Hochschwarzwald Climate Alliance also participated in the planting campaign.

The Maritim TitiseeHotel is certified according to the GreenSign Hotel Standard.

As part of the certification process, an independent certification body reviews documented evidence and conducts an on-site audit to determine whether the hotel meets the requirements of the GreenSign Hotel Standard. The assessment covers areas including environmental management, energy and water consumption, waste management, social responsibility and regional sourcing. 

The audit report documents the assessment and provides recommendations for further development.
