Foundation for University Medicine Dresden
Our employees are deeply committed to charitable engagement. They have the opportunity to help decide how the funds from the ProTomorrow initiative—where a contribution is donated to a charitable cause for each (non-daily) room cleaning—are allocated. Since many colleagues have personal experience caring for elderly relatives or have ageing family members themselves, the desire arose to support the older generation.
As a donation recipient, we have identified the Foundation for University Medicine Dresden, which promotes research, teaching, and healthcare—precisely where standard funding ends. One of the supported projects is the University Centre for Healthy Ageing (UCGA). In 2026, the UCGA will relocate to the new Centre for Mental Health on the campus of Dresden University Hospital. To ensure that elderly patients receive the most comfortable care possible, the team at Maritim Hotel Dresden donated €5,000 at the end of October 2023 to fund a lighting concept that simulates a natural day-night rhythm, helping patients—especially those with dementia—maintain their sense of orientation.
