Historic museum

The very place where the museum is located is closely linked with the history of Hanover: From the high banks of the Leine, which probably lent the name to the young "Honovere" , the city was founded 1100 years ago. Tones of the late Middle Ages in the semicircular Beginen Tower and the remains of the city wall made of rough hewn quarry stone stand witness.

Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Mondays.

Adventure-Zoo Hanover

Exotic landscapes, over 2,600 animals and great shows: discover the fascinating world of animals. In the four exciting worlds of the zoo (African river landscape of Zambezi, Gorilla Mountain, jungle palace, Lower-Saxon Meyer's Court) you can expect some extraordinary encounters, unforgettable impressions and above all, lots of fun for the entire family.

Hop-on Hop-off City Tour

The city tour leads you to the most impressive sights of Hanover. Getting on and off the bus is possible at every stop.
This round trip will take you to opulent buildings such as the New Town Hall, show you the Old Town with its picturesque alleys as well as Hanover's attractive green spaces such as the famous Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen. It is also possible to book a basic round trip.

Opening times: daily departures until 31 October (from 1 Nov. only Wed/Fr/Sat) from 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Schützenfest

Schützenfest (Marksmen's Funfair

28th June to 7th July 2019

This fair is the largest marksmen's funfair in the world, with a history extending back to the 15th century. Every year, this ten-day event plays host to more than 1.5 million visitors on an area of around ten hectares on Hanover's massive Schützenplatz. The Lüttje Lage, a draught beer with schnapps chaser, is the fair's traditional beverage.

Little Festival in the Great Garden

10th to 28th July 2019

At this very special location, the incomparable Great Garden in Herrenhausen, up to 100 artistes from around the world entertain a delighted public on more than 35 stage for three weeks every July.

Tickets can be purchased in advance. Another 200 tickets are available each day from the box office.

Maschseefest

31st July to 18th August 2019

The Maschseefest is a festival lasting about three weeks in Hanover, which is held every year on the promenades gracing the banks of the Maschsee lake. The Maschseefest has now become one of Northern Germany's largest events, with over two million visitors.

International Fireworks Competition

May to September 2019

On five evenings in summer, the world's most renowned pyrotechnicians compete against one another in the Great Garden to put on an impressive firework extravaganza with both set and individual routines.

Herrenhausen Autumn Festival

21st to 23rd September 2019

If you appreciate gardens, nature and country life, you'll love the Autumn Festival in the Herrenhausen Gardens. Delicious fruit flans, magnificent dahlias and pumpkins, chic tweed jackets and splendidly set tables all whet the appetite for the beginning of autumn. And "man's best friend" is also allowed to visit the Herrenhausen Gardens.

Christmas Market

25th November to 22nd December 2019
Daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Hanover Christmas Market is in fact several markets: traditional in the Old Town, Finnish on the Ballhofplatz, with Finnish specialities, Vegan in the Steintor and Medieval on the Leibnizufer. Get ready for Christmas cookies, crêpes, mulled wine, hot punch and lots more besides at over 170 stalls and stands.
