Mannheim Christmas Market

The Mannheim Christmas Market at the Wasserturm (Water Tower), one of Germany's oldest and largest Christmas markets, is a popular destination for visitors from around the globe. Located in the city centre, it invites you to take a stroll with family and friends along the Hirtenpfad and Engelsgasse, to enjoy diverse treats from around 200 festively bedecked chalets. A huge selection of Christmas decorations is available, including traditional Christmas tree baubles, cribs with ample accessories, collectable figures, candles, illuminated stars and wreaths.

International Easter Egg Market in the Luisenpark

In Mannheim's Baumhainhalle festival hall in the Luisenpark, one of Europe's most delightful parks, artists from various countries demonstrate different techniques for decorating eggs. Here, artistic expression knows no bounds. The artists are happy to provide tips and suggestions for making your own beautiful eggs.

Maimarkt (May Market)

Mannheim's May Market is one of the city's oldest institutions. In 47 halls and on a large outdoor area, some 20,000 products and services from virtually every walk of life are presented at sales, information and demonstration stands.

Heidelberg Castle Illuminations

3rd June, 8th July and 2nd September 2017

The Castle Illuminations take place three times a year to commemorate the destruction of Heidelberg and its castle by French troops during the War of the Palatinate Succession.

The castle is symbolically set ablaze. 50 volunteers from the fire brigade light Bengal fires that bathe the castle in a surreal light so that it appears as if the entire castle is on fire.

MarktMeile Mannheim with Sunday shopping

1st October 2017

The "MarktMeile" (Shopping Mile) commemorates the granting of market rights to Mannheim in the year 1613. Various special offers invite passers-by on the "mile" to make a quick detour. A further highlight is Sunday opening from 1 to 6 p.m.
