The historical opera house of the Latvian National Opera is the traditional stage for classical and modern ballets/operas during the September through May season. Begun in 1997, another of the year's highlights is the annual June Opera Festival. Originally the "German Theatre", the magnificent neoclassicism-style opera house was built between 1860 and 1863 according to plans drawn up by Ludwig Bohnstedt. The Latvian National Opera has called it home since 1919. Season schedules can be provided by the hotel. Ticket prices are subject to inquiry and ticket procurement is subject to availability.

Tours of the building - including a backstage peek - can be taken when no performances or rehearsals are taking place. The tours are held in various languages and the duration is around 45 minutes.
