As a reminder of this slaughter in the Teutoburger Wald in the year 9 AD, Ernst Bandel built this tower in the middle of the 19th century. Since it was dedicated in 1875 the Hermannsdenkmal has been one of the most important picnic destinations in north-west Germany. The complex full of variations is located in the Hochwald, partly in the open, and has an attractive view of the slightly hilly landscape of the Teutoburger Forest. The 18 hole course with its stock of old trees, integrated into a hilly park landscape, is something to be enthusiastic about, because of the strategically laid tricky tracks, with strongly undulating greens well defended by bunks, and where the fairway drives seem to get absorbed magically into ponds. The slightly hilly topography of the terrain (18 holes) enables problem-free golfing for all age groups, but at the same time poses a demanding and variegated challenge. The terrain is surrounded by small little forests at irregular intervals. Greens surrounded by bunkers, moist biotope as well as a wind factor that has to be taken into account with every shot pose a challenge to every player.
